College of Saint Mary to host Commencement May 14-15 on campus
OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) will graduate 210 students during two Commencement ceremonies on May 14-15. They include 27 certificates, 117 bachelor’s degrees, 65 master’s degrees, and 28 doctorates.
For the first time in nearly 40 years, spring commencement will be held on campus at the Lied Fitness Center Fieldhouse. A graduate ceremony for master’s and doctoral students will be 7 p.m. Saturday, May 14. An undergraduate ceremony will be 10 a.m. Sunday, May 15.
The special guest speaker for both ceremonies is Stephanie Clary, the environment editor at EarthBeat, a project of the National Catholic Reporter that publishes stories about climate crisis, faith and action. In 2021, she co-led the communication track at Creighton University’s Laudato Si’ and the U.S. Catholic Church conference, while working as the digital editor at U.S. Catholic magazine. Prior to her roles in national Catholic journalism, Clary helped coordinate the implementation of Laudato Si’ in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, Vt., including the statewide diocese’s Year of Creation programming and the Action for Ecological Justice conference at Saint Michael’s College in 2017. Clary earned bachelor’s degrees in communication studies from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind., and a master’s degree in systematic theology from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.
The recipient of the Spirit of Saint Mary Award, the highest achievement bestowed on a CSM graduate, will be revealed during Commencement on Sunday.
