College of Saint Mary Partners with Area Businesses for Community Summit
College of Saint Mary is collaborating with area businesses and other nonprofit organizations to host the Aksarben Business Nonprofit Community Summit.
The meeting, which will be from 8-10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Warde Conference Center at CSM, is focused on building voluntary networks of communication and collaboration among all members of the Aksarben area business and nonprofit community to address issues of common concern and pursue shared goals. Initiatives to seek any special status from the city or other government agencies are beyond the scope of this collaboration.
The meeting will include breakout groups to discuss common concerns, including safety, community, diversity, communication, accessibility, and visibility.
CSM President Dr. Maryanne Stevens, RSM, will also speak during the event.
The summit came from recommendations from a focus group the Place-Based Community Engagement Taskforce conducted last spring with Aksarben businesses.
Collaborative partners include Hilton Garden Inn, Askarben Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association, Community Alliance, Omaha Police Department, Noddle Companies, Aksarben Village Dial Senior Living, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Hampton Inn, Chlorophyll By Kinghorn Gardens, Elmwood Pharmacy & Home Medical Equipment, Intercultural Senior Center, BlueCross BlueShield Nebraska, ACCESSbank, and Gotta Be Me.
The meeting is open only to businesses and nonprofits in the greater Aksarben area.
