DACA: Voices from the CSM Community exhibit set for Feb. 12
OMAHA, NEB. – College of Saint Mary will host a special one-night exhibit titled “DACA: Voices of the CSM Community” which features student portraits and written personal stories from nearly 20 Dreamers within the CSM community.
Each story will highlight the student’s journey to CSM, their struggles before DACA, and what would happen should their status expire.
“I am amazed by the strength of these women as they come forward to share their stories,” says Dr. Kristin Mattson, CSM political science professor and coordinator of the event. “They tell their stories to welcome us all into community and to inspire us to protect it.”
The public is encouraged to attend the reception on Feb. 12 from 4-6 p.m. in Hillmer Art Gallery. There will be a short program at 4:15, followed by networking, socializing, and live music played by guitarist Javier Castellote. An advocacy table will be set up with further information and postcards to write and send representatives.
The event is sponsored by Students for Justice, Office of Service Learning, and Office for Multicultural Initiatives. Register for the event here.
