Mesner Puppet Theater hits CSM next month
OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary will play host to a Mesner Puppet Theater performance next month. The puppet show, titled Anansi the Spider, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9th, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. Audience members can expect a lively telling of four classic folk tales from Africa and the Caribbean.
“We’re excited to bring in such a talented group of performers for this one-of-a-kind show,” said CSM Director of the Fine Arts Dr. Chris Krampe. “This is a premiere puppet show that you can’t get most places. We want to invite the community to enjoy a fun performance for both young and old.”
The show will contain several humorous stories with one common thread: a trickster spider who oftentimes tricks himself. Anansi the Spider offers universal lessons of wit and cleverness. Stories include “How the Stories Came to the World”, “Tiger Becomes a Riding Horse”, “The Magic of Five” and “Dinner for Two”.
Perfect for the entire family, this puppet show is free and open to the community.
