Path to Princess: Broadway star to host Q&A at College of Saint Mary
Omaha, Neb. – College of Saint Mary will welcome Lissa deGuzman to campus this week for an exclusive Q&A session centering on her journey to becoming a Broadway stage actor. deGuzman, who plays the role of Jasmine in the North American touring production of Disney’s Aladdin, will speak to students and community on her “path to princess”. The event will take place this Friday, Jan. 18, 2-3 p.m. in CSM’s Gross Auditorium.
“We’re extremely excited to welcome Lissa to our campus, and we’re looking forward to hearing about her personal journey in theater and how she’s worked her way up the ladder in the competitive arena that is performing arts,” says Sarah Klocke, director of theatre and communications at CSM. “CSM is continuously striving to provide our students and community with memorable experiences in the arts, and this is just another step towards that goal.”
When deGuzman began playing the role of Jasmine back in August of last year, she expressed her excitement in an Instagram post, “I am still overwhelmed with excitement to step into the shoes of such a strong, curious, independent, smart woman who stands up for what’s in her heart.”
The hit Broadway musical will play a two-week engagement at Omaha’s Orpheum Theater from Jan. 16-27. Tickets can be purchased through the Omaha Performing Arts website.
deGuzman made her tour debut with Aladdin and has previously been seen on stage in regional productions of West Side Story at Studio Tenn, Fiddler on the Roof at The MUNY and Chasing Rainbows at Goodspeed Opera House.
Admission to the Q&A is free and open to the public. For more information, go to CSM.edu.
