SURPRISE $80,000 CSM Scholarship Presented to Omaha South High School Student
College of Saint Mary (CSM) is proud to announce that Osiris Marquez of Omaha, Nebraska, has been selected as a Marie Curie Scholar starting this fall at CSM. A surprise scholarship check presentation of $80,000 honored Osiris on Wednesday, May 4, at Omaha South High School. Osiris is the daughter of Apolonio Marquez & Esmeralda Rentieria. She plans to major in chemistry at CSM. Osiris’s awards and honors while attending high school include:
- Certificate of Excellence (2012)
- Latino Scholars of Distinction (2013-2014)
- Academic Achievement (2013)
- Academic Letter (2012 – 2015)
- NCPA Academic All-State Award (2015-2016)
- National Honor Society
College of Saint Mary’s prestigious Marie Curie Scholars Program, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, provides significant financial support and resources for academically talented young women who study science or math. Marie Curie Scholars may receive up to $20,000 annually for four years in gift aid – and participants also receive free tutoring, have opportunities for undergraduate research, may participate in National Institute of Health and NASA research fellowships, and attend and present at national conferences.
