College of Saint Mary reports a record number of students living in residence halls, spring 2016
Omaha, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) is pleased to announce a record number of students living in on-campus residential housing for the spring 2016 semester. CSM boasts the highest occupancy in university history, dating back to 1923.
“Since spring of 2014, residence hall occupancy has increased by 14%,” said Dr. Tara Knudson Carl, vice president for student development. “Our students find that when they live on campus, they’re plugged into a community of people who really care about fostering their potential. And by living on campus in a supportive, academic-focused environment, student graduation rates rise.”
The University has two residence halls located on the 40-acre campus. Lozier Hall is a vibrant, inclusive community that houses traditional undergraduate students. The second, Madonna Hall, constructed in 2012, is for single mothers and their children participating in the Mothers Living & Learning (MLL) program. The MLL program is for women who have up to two children, and are dedicated to continuing their education, and are seeking community living opportunities that recognize they are parents as well as college students.
“Living on campus fosters a strong sense of community and encourages a supportive learning environment for our students,” said Knudson Carl. “In addition, with Aksarben Village only a few blocks away, living on campus provides great options for dining and activities outside of the classroom.”
