CSM Surprises Ralston High School Student with Marie Curie Scholarship

College of Saint Mary is proud to announce that Teresa Clare Artz of Ralston, Nebraska, has been selected as a Marie Curie Scholar starting this fall at CSM. A surprise scholarship check presentation of $80,000 honored Teresa on Monday, Feb. 22 at Ralston High School. Teresa is the daughter of Patrick and Kathleen Artz. She plans to major in biology at CSM. Teresa’s awards and honors while attending high school include:

  • Honor Roll at Skutt Catholic High School & Ralston High School (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015)
  • Skutt High School Outstanding Student in Fine Arts (2012)
  • Skutt High School Concert Band Most Improved Player (2012)
  • Skutt Catholic High School Winter Guard Member (2012)
  • Skutt Catholic High School Marching Band (2012, 2013, 2014)
  • Ralston High School Speech Team Member (2015)

 

College of Saint Mary’s prestigious Marie Curie Scholars Program, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, provides significant financial support and resources for academically talented young women who study science or math. Marie Curie Scholars may receive up to $20,000 annually for four years in gift aid – and participants also receive free tutoring, have opportunities for undergraduate research, may participate in National Institute of Health and NASA research fellowships, and attend and present at national conferences.
