College of Saint Mary choir to sing national anthem at College World Series Game 9
Omaha, Neb. – College of Saint Mary’s choir, the Singers, is heading to Game 9 of the 2016 NCAA Men’s College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park. But, not to play – to sing. They’ll open the game by performing the national anthem.
The CSM Singers are a select, auditioned, student ensemble that perform regularly at CSM athletic events. They have also sung the national anthem at Omaha Lancers hockey games, and have performed at Omaha Metro area, state and regional events.
The College World Series National Anthem auditions is a highly competitive event, says CSM Director of Fine Arts Chris Krampe. The initial audition drew more than 120 submitted recordings. Thirty singers or groups were then invited to a live audition at TD Ameritrade Park. From that narrowed pool, only 17 were selected to perform, including the CSM Singers.
“It’s a great honor,” says Krampe, “it’s something our CSM community can be very proud about.”
The CSM Singers performing the national anthem at Game 9 on Wednesday, June 22 include: Cecilia Cervantes, Cori Debates, Charlene Shambare, Claire Buddenberg, Erin Salladay, Ella Spencer, Huong Le, Katherine Samper-Rodriguez, Mikayla Clavijo, Marilynn Martinez, Steph Hauck, Allison Novotney, Emily Krampe, Shannon Landry, Megan Van Kirk and Sydney Svehla.
