Record Numbers Attend CSMAdvantage
This year, a record number of new, first-time students are participating in a five-day kick-off designed to ensure a smooth transition into college life. This week, participants meet other new students, faculty and staff, and brush-up on necessary study and test-taking skills.
The program also focuses on the development of mind, body and spirit in accordance to CSM’s Mission. Students participate in a mission retreat, learn health and wellness tips, and are introduced to the importance of goal-setting and networking. The program continues throughout the year with luncheons and one-on-one meetings with staff members in the Achievement Center.
“The CSMAdvantage students in the fall 2015 class earned a 3.41 cumulative GPA for fall semester. We help prepare new students for their first year of college and support them throughout this exciting journey,” said Angela Fernandez, assistant dean for retention programs and director of the CSM Advantage program.
