Minnesota senior gets Easter surprise from College of Saint Mary
College of Saint Mary surprised Chloe Jensen of Saint Francis, Minnesota, on Easter weekend with a Marie Curie Scholarship totaling $80,000 over four years.
The Saint Francis High School senior plans to major in biology and play softball at CSM this fall. She is the daughter of Lori and Mike Jensen, and sister of Max.
Jensen is a National Honor Society member and was active in volleyball, softball and karate in high school. Since her junior year, she has taken coursework and served as a chemistry tutor at Anoka-Ramsey Community College through the post-secondary enrollment option provided to high-achieving high school students. Her academic support center coordinator at Anoka-Ramsey describes Jensen as a motivated leader and role model to all of the students she works with as a peer tutor.
College of Saint Mary’s prestigious Marie Curie Scholars Program, funded in part by the National Science Foundation, provides significant financial support and resources for academically-talented young women who study science or math. Marie Curie Scholars may receive up to $20,000 annually for four years in gift aid. Participants also receive free tutoring, have opportunities for undergraduate research, may participate in National Institute of Health and NASA research fellowships, and attend and present at national conferences.
