Stigge earns top award from American Society of Parasitologists
College of Saint Mary Assistant Professor of Biology Heather Stigge has been honored with the Ashton Cuckler New Investigator Award from the American Society of Parasitologists. This is the highest honor the ASP gives to parasitologists who are in the early stages of their career.
Dr. Rebecca A. Cole, an officer with the National Wildlife Health Center and chair of the awards committee, shared that Stigge’s selection was based on her ability to ask and answer important research questions with elegantly-designed experiments and make significant contributions to the field of parasitology. The committee also took note of Stigge’s ability to mentor and involve undergraduates in laboratory research, and her service both to professional societies and College of Saint Mary.
The ASP will present Stigge with the award at their annual meeting in June.
Stigge serves as assistant professor of biology, curator of the CSM Lang Family Aquarium in Hill-Macaluso Hall, and faculty director of the CSM Marie Curie Research and Scholarship program.
