CSM Collaborates with Music Unlimited to Promote Arts Education
OMAHA, NEB. – College of Saint Mary recently announced it will team up with Music Unlimited, a private music education service, to inspire art appreciation throughout the community. Through the partnership, the pair plans to combine affordable music and art education, as well as local hands-on music training to promote the arts.
“With the resources the college has, coupled with the resources available through Music Unlimited, we’re able to make this a truly affordable, quality experience for our students,” said CSM Director of the Fine Arts Dr. Chris Krampe. “We are trying to address what we see as a huge need.”
With a mission to encourage art appreciation and involvement through lessons and events, Music Unlimited uses the talent of professionals and connections throughout the local community to promote passions for the arts. It is directed by Emily Krampe, an experienced Montessori preschool teacher who holds music degrees from Drake University and the University of Kansas. She brings international experience as a music instructor and has maintained a private studio for the past decade. In turn, College of Saint Mary will take advantage of its hands-on learning structure, incorporating the skills of students, using the professional experience of CSM faculty and staff, and encouraging participation through on-campus performances.
“There will be opportunities for our students to be involved directly,” said Dr. Krampe. “People will have special access to events and productions put on by College of Saint Mary.”
Although the program will be open to participants of all ages, it will specialize in providing low-cost services to children and their families. With learning set to take place within the welcoming setting of CSM’s campus, located in the heart of Omaha’s Aksarben Village, the program will offer education through a range of platforms, including instrumental instruction, voice lessons, composition education, dance classes, and a range of avenues for creation. It is designed to create new opportunities for community youth, while working in harmony with unique CSM programs like the college’s Mothers Living & Learning program, which allows single mothers to pursue college degrees full time while living on campus with their children.
“This is about producing people who have an artistic IQ, so that when they go out into the world as adults, they’ve had a really fun and engaging experience that makes them want to continue to be a part of the arts,” said Dr. Krampe.
Music Unlimited is open to people of all ages. Those interested in more information can contact Dr. Chris Krampe via phone at (402) 399-2622 or through email at ckrampe [at] csm.edu.
