Second Annual Trail Blazer 2-Mile Walk fundraiser set for Sept. 14
OMAHA, NEB. – College of Saint Mary will host the second annual Flames Trail Blazer 2-Mile Walk on Friday, September 14, 2018. Participants in the fundraiser will have a chance to celebrate and support Flames Athletics while encouraging the leadership development inherent in each athletic program.
“We’re excited to build on what was an extremely positive event last year,” said Peter Haze Haring, Director of Athletics. “This is a fantastic opportunity for the community to connect with Flame athletes and coaches while supporting our student-athletes.”
All funds raised during the event will directly contribute to scholarships and facility improvements. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with coaches and athletes from all 10 of CSM’s varsity sports programs. With the addition of two new sports last year, the Flames now compete in basketball, bowling, competitive dance, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
The fundraiser comes at an exciting time for CSM after recently announcing a strategic plan to grow Flames athletics and emphasize the powerful opportunities collegiate sports can provide for women. In addition to adding bowling and dance as new programs last year, CSM has invested in two major facility upgrades, complete softball field renovations in 2018 and soccer field upgrades that are currently underway featuring a new synthetic turf playing surface.
The second annual Trail Blazer 2-Mile Walk will begin and end at the CSM Plaza, with a start time of 5:45 p.m. Registration is $25 per person and will include food and a t-shirt. Food and live music will be available at the CSM Plaza immediately following the walk.
