College of Saint Mary Renews Partnership for Scholarship for Undocumented Students
OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) has renewed for a second year its partnership with TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college and career success program for undocumented immigrant students, to provide scholarships for Nebraska immigrant youth to achieve their higher education goals.
The Dream.US opened a new round of scholarship applications for the 2024-25 academic year on Nov. 1. The deadline is Feb. 29, 2024. The scholarships are open to undocumented immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2018, and have continuously lived in the U.S. since then.
“College of Saint Mary is committed to empowering every student to pursue their dreams, regardless of their immigration status,” said President Heather Smith, MBA. “Our partnership with TheDream.US reaffirms our dedication to providing opportunities for undocumented students, ensuring that they can achieve their higher education goals and contribute to a brighter future for themselves and our community.”
Nebraska immigrant youth will be eligible to apply for TheDream.US National Scholarship. The National Scholarship is for Dreamers who are about to graduate high school or earn a GED, current community college students, and current university students. Complete eligibility information for the National Scholarship is available online at thedream.us/scholarships/national-scholarship. The award is for tuition and fees of up to $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree.
Lizeth, a first-year student majoring in applied psychology and human services, received the scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year. She also received CSM’s Misericordia Scholarship, a donor-funded grant for undocumented students.
“I am so grateful for the Dream.US and the Misericordia scholarships I am receiving at College of Saint Mary,” she said. “Without this support, my dream of attending college would not have been possible.”
