College of Saint Mary to Host Summer Academy for High School Students
OMAHA, Neb. – College of Saint Mary (CSM) will host a week-long transformative journey with CSM Summer Academy for high school juniors and seniors June 2-7 on campus, 7000 Mercy Road.
The academy is an exclusive college immersion experience tailored for underrepresented high school juniors and seniors. Students will immerse themselves in a dynamic week with a blended curriculum (science and arts), prep for college, connect with professional women in the community, form lifelong friendships, and experience fun off-campus adventures.
“Young women from underrepresented groups are often told of all the roadblocks they might face in pursuit of higher education, this academy aims to show them all the opportunities and success they could have,” said Marisa Mathews, director of student leadership and inclusive programming. “The tools, resources and connections gained from this experience tap into the enormous potential of these students and help them get a glimpse into a future where higher education is not only just a possibility but a reality in which they thrive.”
During Summer Academy, students will learn about scholarship opportunities at CSM, including the prestigious Marie Curie Scholarship, which provides up to $80,000 and resources for young women majoring in biology, chemistry, mathematics, or human biology.
Each participant will receive a stackable $500 scholarship to CSM.
The fee is $25 for the entire week. The registration fee includes hands-on classroom learning, comfy on-campus housing, meals, off-campus excursions, and T-shirt and swag. The registration deadline is April 5. To apply and learn more about the academy, visit CSM.edu/SummerAcademy.
