Carlson Joins College of Saint Mary as Head Soccer Coach
College of Saint Mary Athletic Director Jim Krueger has hired John Carlson as the new Flames Head Soccer Coach.
Carlson returns to College of Saint Mary, having coached for three seasons in 2001-2003. During that time, the Flames compiled a 45-13-7 record and won two Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference titles.
Carlson also coached at Nebraska Wesleyan University from 1999-2001, amassing a 34-4-4 record. While at NWU, Carlson was named the Nebraska Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (now Great Plains Athletic Conference) Coach of the Year for the 1999 season.
Most recently, Carlson has been the head girls varsity soccer coach for Skutt Catholic High School where he had worked since 2000. He has led Skutt to five Nebraska Class B State Soccer titles.
“We are excited to have John Carlson return to College of Saint Mary to direct our soccer program,” said Krueger. “He brings a wealth of coaching experience, both at the collegiate and high school level, along with great recruiting contacts,” Krueger continued.
“I’m very excited to get started," Carlson said. "After touring College of Saint Mary’s facilities, learning of their upcoming move to the Great Plains Athletic Conference, and especially after meeting with the team, I knew this was a great place to coach. Jim Krueger is leading College of Saint Mary in the right direction.”
College of Saint Mary athletic teams are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Midland Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC).
