College of Saint Mary Cross Country Coach will run across Nebraska in ten days
OMAHA, Neb. — On Monday, June 22, College of Saint Mary Cross Country Coach Derek Fey will embark on a 10-day, 471-mile run across Nebraska. Coach Fey will begin the ultra-marathon in Henry, Nebraska, along the Wyoming border, and finish on Wednesday, July 1st at City Hall in downtown Omaha. Coach Fey’s goal for this run is to help his CSM Cross Country Team raise enough funds to participate in the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Florida this fall.
“Participating in the Mountain Dew Invitational would be a great opportunity for our runners,” Coach Fey said. "Not only would there be great competition, but it would give us a chance to compete against teams we wouldn't see in the Midwest.”
The past two seasons, CSM’s Cross Country team has won the MCAC Conference Championship and qualified for the NAIA National Cross Country meet. Last fall, they ran the fastest total team time in school history.
